2017 Lutsen 99er | Lutsen, MN

It was another mudder at the 2017 edition of the Lutsen 99er. The good news was the lightning, thunder, and hail held off this year. I want to give a big shout out to my 'sherpa' for the day, Sean Bartels. He did his best all day to talk me off the ledge and keep me from quitting. i actually sent him up the road around the 35 mile mark, as I was not looking forward to another white knuckle trip around the 18 mile loop that we had just finished. After he was out of sight, I decided to carry on and see what happened. A few minutes later as I pulled into the aid station, Sean was quite surprised to turn around and see me, and I was relieved that he was still there. For those of you who don't know why I was so apprehensive, there will be another post detailing the history behind that.
